Ms. Kathleen Smith, has been teaching fifth grade first at the
Middle School and now at Rush. Her career began at Rush School as a first grade
teacher. Music is her avocation and Ms. Smith has studied both piano and voice
for many years. As a soloist she has performed in numerous concerts and operas.
She has directed and performed a version of Mozarts Magic Flute with several
of her fifth grade classes.
Gardening, walking and caring for her two cats, Oliver and
Suzanne Mentzer are other activities she enjoys.
"Its great to be back at Rush School," says Ms.
Smith.
The following students from
Ms. Smith’s 2005-2006 classes achieved acceptance for
publication in the summer writing contest sponsored by
Creative Communications. Poetry winners include: Catherine
Arntz, Lee Collins, Mary Kostiuk, Cassie Leibfried, Meghan
Malloy, Ellie Novak, Christy Quattrone, Erin Studenmayer, and
Micah Thevanayagam. In addition, Mary Kostiuk’s essay entitled:
Bullying: What I Did About It, was also accepted for
publication in the Creative Communications Essay Anthology.
