My
Philosophy of Music Education
– Music Learning Theory
Music Learning Theory is an explanation of how we learn when we
learn music. It is based on an extensive body of research and
practical field experience tested by Dr. Edwin Gordon and
others. It provides a comprehensive method for teaching
musicianship through audiation (hearing music in the mind with
understanding).
I
believe that each child on this earth has the innate potential
to learn music. Children begin school with varying levels of
musical exposure, experience, and encouragement. It is my job
to help each child develop their own musical potential.
In
music class, students will sing, chant, move, dance, listen,
play instruments, create, improvise, and perhaps even read and
write music!
Remember, learning begins at (or even
before) birth! For more information on Saturday morning Early
Childhood Music Classes for ages 0 to 5, please visit
www.growingupwithmusic.com. Classes
are taught by Mrs. Natasha Sigmund, music teacher at Rush
school, and assisted by yours truly, Mrs. Harding.
